Zagame news – June 2024

The number and quality of new models being released by our brands right now is really exciting. This month alone we have seen new products from Audi, Aston Martin, Bentley, BRABUS, CUPRA, and Rolls-Royce - with even more on the way.

The all new Audi Q5 really is a special car. It's been one of Audi's most popular models for many years and the new car brings even more technology, luxury and performance. It's been a huge year for Audi already and that's sure to continue when the Q5 arrives in July.

While hybrid and electric vehicles are making a lot of news, it's also fantastic to congratulate Ferrari on being awarded the Car Design of the Year Award for the 12Cilindri. It's a breathtaking piece of design and clearly the experts agree. On the subject of breathtaking Ferrari's, there is another very special car inside for you too.

I hope you enjoy what the team has put together.

AUDI Q5

The perfect SUV, perfected.

For many people, the Audi Q5 is the perfect SUV. Just the right size, just the right performance, just the right price. So it’s no surprise that many customers are wanting to upgrade to the new model. It's been worth the wait too.

The all-new Q5 and SQ5 range will be available with three engines at launch. A new entry TFSI front wheel drive, a TDI engine with quattro all-wheel drive, and the range topping SQ5 with a powerful V6 TFSI producing 270kW. The more powerful SQ5 covers 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

A major interior upgrade sees new screens, seats and controls embrace the latest technology, yet with Audi’s hallmark attention to detail and the use of fine high-touch materials.

The new Q5 also offers more space than before with appreciable differences to rear passenger room and luggage space. Looking at the exterior of the new Q5 there is a clear connection to earlier models, while also creating a crisp, contemporary style of its own. This is surely a contender as one of the world’s best looking SUVs.

The Q5 and SQ5 will both arrive in the 3rd quarter of 2025 to the excitement of current owners and those new to Audi. We’ll let you know more as the local launch date gets closer.

ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE ROADSTER

There’s nothing like the wind in your heirloom.

The world has enjoyed driving in (or simply looking at) an Aston Martin Vantage convertible for 75 years. This performance legacy – cherished for generations – reaches a new level with the new Vantage Roadster.

It’s faster, with more power and torque than any car in the model’s long history. Even the roof is faster, it drops in a mere 6.8 seconds at any speed up to 50km/h. Melbourne’s fickle weather is no match for the world’s fastest roof mechanism.

Every technical innovation in the Vantage Coupé has been integrated into the new roadster with just 60kgs of additional weight and little difference in rigidity.

The car’s grip is complemented by its staggering performance from the 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 producing 665 ps and 800Nm. The 3.5 second 0-100km/h figure will attest to that.

There’s little doubt that this is another high point in the storied history of Aston Martin. The performance of the new Valhalla hyper-car is astonishing, the new DB12 has created a whole new class of car – The Super Tourer, and now Aston Martin have unleashed one of the most stunning convertibles ever made.

Whatever is in the water there, it’s worth bottling.

BEHIND THE WHEEL - CUPRA TAVASCAN

Is this the electric SUV that drives us to a tipping point?

There is a lot of “noise” about new car brands at the moment – and much of it is simply hype that fails on closer inspection. The new Cupra Tavascan isn’t from a brand someone made up yesterday. It’s a brilliantly engineered car, of superb quality, from a European company that’s had a performance focus for decades. You can feel it as soon as you get behind the wheel.

The Tavascan range includes the rear wheel drive, single electric motor 'Endurance' model - and the twin motor Cupra VZ producing 250 kW - more than enough power and performance to eclipse a petrol-fuelled alternative.

The handling is crisp and decisive thanks to the low-down placement of the batteries. As to range? It will go far enough that you’ll need a break before the car does.

It looks cool too! Not many cars make pedestrians do a double take like this does. The copper accents (shared with all high-power Cupras) are a stylish statement of intent. The interior is high tech, but incredibly functional. Special mention must be made of the spar that separates the front seats. It gives the cabin a driver-focused feel that’s perfectly apt when you point the car at some corners.

The instant and seamless surge of the electric motor demonstrates in just seconds that this practical, stylish SUV is a great drive. CUPRA have proved you can engineer efficiency in, without engineering all the character out.

If you’re still wondering whether an electric car is right for you, the Tavascan could be the one to happily tip you over the edge.

The F40 is Ferrari’s final love letter from Enzo Ferrari himself. Built as the last model personally approved by the founder before his passing, the Ferrari F40 stands as the ultimate expression of raw performance, design purity, and purpose.

Unveiled in 1987 at the Civic Centre in Maranello to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary, the F40 shattered expectations — and the record books — becoming the fastest production car in the world, with a top speed of 201 mph (324 km/h).

Designed by Pininfarina, the F40’s lines are both functional and ferocious. Every detail serves a purpose, with an obsessive focus on lightweight engineering. Weighing just 1250 kg, it pioneered the use of Kevlar, carbon fibre, and aluminium — materials once reserved for Formula 1. There was no ABS, no power steering, no carpets, and no compromise. Just the road, the driver, and Ferrari’s engineering at its most unfiltered.

Offered for sale accompanied by its original sales documentation, this exceptional car has travelled just 8,032 km, and comes with Ferrari Classiche Certification and has fully matching numbers.

The F40 market remains exceptionally strong, with the last three global sales averaging an impressive $3,500,000 USD, reflecting the enduring demand and investment-grade status of this iconic supercar.

A pristine, investment-grade piece of automotive history for the serious collector.

LAMBORGHINI TEMERARIO LAUNCH

When a new Lamborghini comes to town...

The recent Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix was a magnet for anyone interested in motorsport and high performance. Which meant it was the perfect time to launch the new V8 Hybrid Lamborghini Temerario.

The Australian reveal of the Temerario took place at a spectacular event in the heart of the Melbourne CBD thanks to Lamborghini Melbourne. In an action-packed event at the Melbourne Town Hall, Lamborghini owners were excited to witness the unveiling of this breathtaking new car.

Some specs revealed on the night tell a very exciting story - as did the sound of the engine when the car was started in the room.

The flat-plane, 4-litre, twin-turbo V8 revs to a stratospheric 10,000 rpm (as we heard). 100km/h is reached in just 2.7 seconds. Three electric motors seamlessly boost (or reduce) power and torque between all four wheels to create incredible levels of handling and response. The top speed is more than 340km/h.

Of course, beyond all this is the styling. Lamborghini’s angular, aggressive, yet aerodynamic design language has never looked more arresting.

These were all moments that make long lasting memories. How will they top that?

BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT CONVERTIBLE SPEED

No roof over your head can be a luxury.

All convertibles heighten the driving experience. The wind, the smells, the sense of speed - it all feels so much more alive when the roof is down.

Yet few convertibles manage to heighten the sense of luxury at the same time. The new Bentley Continental GT Convertible Speed manages to achieve both. It is jaw-droppingly fast, with 100km/h just 3.4 seconds away thanks to the massively powerful all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain with 575kW and 1000Nm from a 4.0-litre V8 working in tandem with a 190 PS electric motor and all wheel drive.

It is also incredibly comfortable. The seats are gripping yet plush. Solid timber and solid metal dominate the surfaces inside and even with the roof down it feels incredibly substantial.

Perhaps surprisingly, the GTC Speed remains a sensory overload even when the multi-layer, near-soundproof roof is up (which only takes 19 seconds). The stereo is audiophile grade. The ride is as plush as the seats, the grip, acceleration and throttle response all seem directly connected to your mind. Think, and it just happens.

This benchmark convertible (and benchmark experience) is now on display at Bentley Melbourne. Take a test drive and you’ll discover how less roof can make more of a car.

THE FERRARI 12CILINDRI

Winner of the World’s Best Car Design. And countless hearts.

The judges put it better than we can:

“The design of the 12Cilindri encapsulates the historical essence of the Ferrari V12s of the Fifties and Sixties, revisited and taking into account the aerodynamic requirements that today are a science and no longer just an intuition."

"An indissoluble link with tradition that looks to the future and has led this project to unite two souls, sportiness and elegance, to create an out-of-the-box icon.”

This award is just another part of Ferrari's epic history and yet more evidence of what makes it so admired.

When you see the 12Cilindri in the metal at Ferrari Melbourne, you will instantly know it’s a deserving winner.

If you’d like to see more, watch the video below and see Chris Harris take one for an impromptu spin with Ferrari’s head test driver. He summed it up nicely in just one word: “Wow!”.

MELBOURNE MOTOR SHOW

Melbourne Motor Show makes a comeback.

The success of the recent Melbourne International Motor Show is enough to remind anyone that Melbourne has a large and passionate motoring community. When so many of our brands are driven by passion (as we at Zagame are) it was a perfect fit.

Standout cars at the Zagame stand included the special edition Brabus 800 SOMO or ‘Sondermodelle’. This car is a ‘1 of 10’ worldwide so the Motor Show was the perfect place to launch this very rare car.

Almost as rare was the BRABUS 700 Rolls-Royce Ghost. The only one of its type in Australia, the BRABUS 700 was one of the stars of the Motor Show. For something completely different (as is the BRABUS way) the all new, fully electric BRABUS smart #3 was shown for the very first time in Australia. If the styling isn't enough to get your attention, the 315 KW output surely will be. More on these two cars soon.

Another highlight was McLaren Melbourne's celebration of McLaren’s 2024 Formula 1 Constructors title. With both the McLaren 750S and the new Artura on display it was a fitting tribute to their on-track success.

The Motor Show justified the organiser’s faith in Melbourne’s motoring passion. It was a sell out after all.
