Zagame news – December 2023

This year has gone by so quickly, it’s a little hard to believe this is the final edition of our Passion newsletter for 2023. And so much has also happened in these past few months

Both McLaren and Lamborghini have celebrated their sixtieth anniversaries, while launches for the Lamborghini Revuelto, Rolls-Royce Spectre, and the McLaren 750S have all introduced cars that are the absolute best of the car maker's work. And we've also had even more new arrivals from Audi and Abarth too.

Before the year ends, I would just like to take this opportunity to wish you very happy Christmas season and every success for 2024.

For now, please enjoy all the news our team has put together for you below.

CUPRA MELBOURNE - SOCCEROOS VISIT

Socceroos fans get a kick out of a CUPRA Melbourne visit.

Soccer fans were thrilled to meet some of the Socceroos during a last-minute visit to the CUPRA Melbourne Showroom.

Joe Gauci, Jordan Bos and Brandon Borrello provided priceless insights into the game, their careers and life as a Socceroo. They spent a lot of time with the kids in attendance (including families supported by Challenge), signing autographs and making certain their passion for the game finds a place in the hearts of the next generation.

These Socceroos are a true asset to their team, all offering their time in the lead-up to their recent victory against Bangladesh. We’d like to thank them for providing a truly special experience for the kids and other fans alike.

It was great to see their passion for the game reflected in CUPRA's equally passionate support of Australian soccer as sponsor of both the Socceroos and the Matildas.

ALFA ROMEO TONALE - PLUG-IN HYBRID

Green motoring. Yes, it’s the colour of envy too.

The new Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid has arrived at Zagame, and its more than capable of making other drivers feel envious.

This is an electric car when you want it to be. Plug it in overnight and you’ll have more than enough battery power for a city commute.

Or, pack the car and head off for the weekend and there won’t be any worries about ‘range-anxiety’ either. The powerful turbo-charged petrol engine (working alongside the electric motor) will take you anywhere your heart desires. Your passengers will need refuelling more often than this car!

And if you want to get there fast? This is a true Alfa Romeo, a driver’s car with breathtaking performance when the electric and petrol motors combine as a seamless source of power (there’s more than 200kW under your right foot).

Of course, other drivers might be a little jealous just looking at the Tonale. Is there a better-looking compact SUV?

Get in touch if you’d like to take a thoroughly rewarding Tonale test drive.

BEHIND THE WHEEL – FERRARI 296 GTS

Definitely not a one-trick stallion.

When cars are designed with a singular focus, there’s often a series of “buts…” when it comes to assessing them.

“But, it’s not fuel-efficient.”

“But, you can’t drive it every day.”

But driving the new Ferrari 296 GTS, the "buts" don't readily come to mind.

To start (literally) there’s the all-electric mode, easily accessed by the wheel mounted switch. Driven on battery power alone, the 296 GTS is near silent, green, and capable of hot-hatch levels of performance for inner city driving.

Then there’s the roof. It’s either a coupé or a convertible - perfect as either. Again there simply isnt a but.

Even better, the rear window is electric, sliding down between the engine and the rear of the seats. This allows you to drive in air-conditioned comfort while still enjoying the addictive howl of the mid-mounted V6. Not without reason, it’s been described as ‘The piccolo V12’.

In the performance modes, with the electric motor augmenting the massively powerful V6, the performance is electrifying (yes, pun intended). Only a very select group of cars get anywhere near this level of performance.

With 830 horsepower and 0-100 in 2.9 seconds no one will ever say “But I wish it was faster”.

You would need a race circuit to totally stretch this car’s abilities. But (that word again) on the road, few cars feel as engaging, as alive, or as exciting as this one.

The 296 is a benchmark car. The advanced hybrid technology only serves to enhance the driving experience.

You need to try it.

MCLAREN - 60TH ANNIVERSARY

Keeping hearts racing for more than 60 years.

McLaren racing was started by Bruce McLaren in New Zealand in 1963.

From humble beginnings, McLaren fast became a giant of the motor sport world. Just two years after McLaren’s F1 debut in 1966, they stood on the winner’s podium at the Belgium Grand Prix, and have made it a regular occurrence since. McLaren dominated Can-Am racing in the 60’s and 70’s, one of the most exciting eras of motorsport the world has ever seen.

Names like Prost, Lauda, Senna, Fittipaldi, Hunt, Hakkinen and Hamilton are all synonymous with the McLaren Team. Even now, Australia’s own Oscar Piastri is showing signs of joining the greats after his incredible F1 debut season.

In all,183 wins,12 driver’s championships, 8 constructors championships and a couple of Indianapolis 500 wins put McLaren up there amongst the greats.

So it’s little surprise that McLaren’s road cars would provide some of the most unforgettable experiences in motoring too.

The new 750S was launched recently at an event celebrating McLaren’s 60th birthday. Alongside the 1965 McLaren M1B race car, the newly-launched 750S looked astounding, with many journalists already calling it one of the greatest ever.

60 years ago, this level of performance was unthinkable, even in a race car. But somehow, we think Bruce might have known where things were heading.

LAMBORGHINI REVUELTO

Launching the V12 Lamborghini Revuelto (And teaching us how to pronounce it).

Recently, we were honoured to have the Australasian launch for the new Lamborghini Revuelto here in Melbourne.

More than 250 guests were invited by Lamborghini to be a part of the celebration which coincided with Lamborghini’s 60th Anniversary. An honour-guard of six V12 supercars from Lamborghini’s storied history featured on the night.

For those curious, the name of this new Lamborghini exotic is pronounced “Reb-well-toe”. But this is academic. For driver and passenger alike, experiencing the car is likely to leave you speechless. The V12 and 3 (yes, 3) electric motors combine to blast 746kW of power rearward, while 1500Nm of torque ensures throttle response is near instantaneous. 100Km/h is reached in just 2.5 seconds.

Oh, the redline is 9500rpm too. The sound cannot be imagined, only felt.

The Revuelto is deservedly considered Lamborghini’s ‘halo’ car. But many might consider it a halo for the entire industry.

ROLLS-ROYCE SPECTRE

A launch event that changes everything.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that the Rolls-Royce Spectre is a game-changing, world-changing vehicle.

Spectre is the first fully electric production car from this revered manufacturer. And there’s no other car that has utilised the benefits of electrification to such an incredible degree.

The effortless Rolls-Royce ‘glide’ is only accentuated by electric drive. The Spectre is a quieter, faster, and a more effortless drive than any Rolls-Royce before. It is completely tranquil, unfailingly luxurious, and utterly exciting.

It is no less than a personal sanctuary on 4 wheels. Especially when the myriad customisation options will make your own Spectre truly unique.

We were proud to help introduce this landmark car to Australia. Our host, Bobby Zagame, was one of the first in the world to drive the Spectre at a global launch event in California earlier this year and he is effusive about just how brilliantly the car drives. Guests on the night also included members of the Rolls-Royce product team who helped develop this amazing car.

The Spectre is more than a game-changer. It’s a whole new game. Images can’t convey how truly special this vehicle is. Please let us know if you’d like a personal inspection.

AUDI Q8 E-TRON

Joyful, stylish, practical, electrical.

You can’t be all things to all people. But you can get really, really close.

This is the Audi Q8 E-tron. It’s an all-electric SUV. This car has a lot of style, a lot of space, a lot of range, plus a lot of hidden talents that might not be obvious at first glance.

No doubt, this is a cleverly designed, and supremely practical car. It’s also fast and fun. It reaches 100km/h in well under 6 seconds. And being an Audi, all 4 wheels have a tenacious grip on the tarmac to make sure corners don’t spoil the fun either. In this SUV, the batteries are down low, so it’s also very well balanced.

Practicality? Well, this is an SUV, so there’s a lot of space. And you won’t be wasting time at a charging station either. A fast charger can take the Q8 from 10-80% charge in a little over 30 minutes, providing up to 450km of range from a full charge.

Then consider the 5 years of warranty, 6 years of charging subscription, 6 years of servicing, and 6 years of roadside assistance that all add to the appeal.

There’s practically nothing else like it. Take a joyful, stylish, exciting and electric test drive. It might be the last one you take for a long time.

BRABUS GLE

Some cars make a statement. For BRABUS it takes just a little blip of the throttle.

This is not a car for shy, retiring types. This is the Brabus 800 GLE.

The styling is performance focused – designed with physics, not just appearance in mind. Aerodynamics and downforce are substantially enhanced, especially at speed. The dramatic looks, well, they’re a bonus.

The suspension and wheels are all completely upgraded to match the increased performance from the race-grade, hand-built V8 under the bonnet, producing 588 kW (800 HP). An SUV has no right to perform and handle like this.

Yet, all the practicality that is the hallmark of an SUV is retained.

At Zagame your Brabus 800 GLE will be upgraded to your exact specifications and taste, so there genuinely will be nothing else like it. Contact us if you’d like to know more.
