Zagame news – December 2022

When the Australian F1 Grand Prix is in town, there is always a lot of excitement and other activity that comes with it. And this year was no different.

It actually started in late March with the Adelaide Motorsport Festival. A fitting lead up to the F1 GP, there were hundreds of cars on track, many more on display, and a standout Zagame facility to view it all from.

Coinciding the Grand Prix, Zagame hosted the world’s first Singer Turbo Study – an incredible hand-built prototype based on the original 911 Turbo. The car has only been shown a couple of times around the world so this was a rare outing.

We’ve also had a pre-production version of the Ferrari Purosangue grace Ferrari Melbourne. It is a masterpiece in style and engineering, not to mention performance. Customers demanded Ferrari make this car and the result is stunning.

Lamborghini also delivered something very rare, and very special. I’ll let you read more about that one.

Best regards,

Bobby Zagame

SINGER TURBO STUDY

Singer Turbo Study comes to Australia.

This stunning hand-made prototype came to Melbourne fresh from being shown to the world’s press at Pebble Beach in California and the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

The Turbo Study is a new model for Singer, inspired by the unforgettable Porsche 930 Turbo first launched in 1975. Like every Singer, the smallest details have been updated and re-imagined to make something incredibly special, and personal.

We were delighted to host company founder Rob Dickinson here during the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix – his passion for detail and for the Porsche 911 is infectious.

The production car’s twin turbo flat 6 will have over 500hp under that iconic whale tail spoiler. As Rob himself said, it’s a fitting tribute to the car that changed his life.

TECNOMAR LAMBORGHINI 63

A very different Lamborghini.

In March Zagame were excited to deliver the very first Tecnomar Lamborghini 63 in Australia. Unlike most Lamborghinis, this one is designed to cut through the water, not the air.

A collaboration between Lamborghini and The Italian Sea Group, the Technomar was inspired by the Sian FKP 37, the first Lamborghini hybrid super sports car.

Fitted with two (yes two) V12-2000 HP engines, to create the fastest yacht in the Technomar fleet, this cutting-edge vessel is one of just 63 to be made world-wide.

As the official dealer for the Technomar, we were able to work closely on the design to match the owner’s existing Aventador Ultimae in Girgio Achesso, even featuring the same tasteful red accents. The craft features extensive use of carbon fibre helping keep weight down and performance up as you’d expect of a Lamborghini.

The first in Australian waters and destined to be very few like it anywhere else, our thanks go to our partner Ray White Marine for their assistance with the delivery and Aftersales support.

ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM

Proof there is a level beyond ‘unique’.

Rolls-Royce have just released their update to the Phantom, the Phantom II. Everything that has made Rolls-Royce the byword for luxury for over a century has been even further refined in this car.

We have a stunning example of Goodwood’s artistry on display here at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Melbourne. The exterior is finished in a ‘Olivine’, a unique shade destined to be the only one in Australia, with a completely new 22” wheel design that is serenity in motion.

The interior is finished in Seashell leather with laser engraved ruthenium dash inlays that have to be seen to be believed. It’s a unique car, simply because we can’t think of a word beyond that.

Production of the Phantom II will be very limited. If you’d like to see how your unique dreams can be made real, please contact Chris Hope.

Ferrari changes the rules - again.

We were fortunate to have the Ferrari Purosangue at Ferrari Melbourne in April. And it certainly made an impact, with its aggressively beautiful styling and ingenious design.

The Purosangue’s active suspension means the higher ride height has little effect on the handling, other than to provide a more commanding view. Cornering is flat, composed, and utterly tenacious.

The 6.5 litre V12 powerplant that resides up front provides abundant power and effortless performance while carrying 4 adults in luxurious comfort – quickly.

This is Ferrari’s first FUV (or Ferrari Utility Vehicle). Customers asked for it, Ferrari has made it…and quite possibly made history in the process. All the initial test reports agree this is a new benchmark.

ADELAIDE MOTORSPORT FESTIVAL

When Adelaide celebrates motorsport, Zagame are there.

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival might just be Australia’s answer to Goodwood. Which isn’t surprising given South Australia has amongst the highest per capita ownership of classic and high performance cars in the world.

Almost every era, and every category of motorsport was on display and on the track. It’s enthusiast heaven. Especially if you’re enjoying it all from the Zagame Automotive Group’s trackside suite – Club Zagame - featuring not one but four of South Australia’s best restaurants.

Over 600 cars were on displayed at the event, with more than 200 taking part in the track activity over the two days.

The guests were memorable too. These included Valtteri Bottas, David Brabham, Stefan Johansson, Craig Lowndes, Todd Hazelwood - the list goes on.

In all, more than 25,000 people attended the event over the weekend.

One of the undoubted highlights for us was seeing the Rodin on the track. This track special sold and managed by Zagame Autosport gives you close to F1 performance in an accessible track-day package. It’s all done for you. All you have to do is turn up and drive.

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival is fuelled by passion. We felt at home, so we’ll be back next year. Let us know if you’d like to join us.

BEHIND THE WHEEL - CARS WE HAVE DRIVEN LATELY

Audi RS e-tron GT

Settling into the driver’s seat of the new fully electric Audi RS e-tron GT you instantly feel at home. Cutting-edge technology is wrapped in controls that instantly feel familiar. Soft materials prevail - they’re stitched, patterned, quilted and perfectly aligned. It just feels luxurious.

The Audi RS e-tron GT is also stunningly, effortlessly fast. In little more than a second, you’re at the suburban speed limit. Discretion is mandatory.

In corners, this battery-powered Audi RS sits almost perfectly flat. With most of the weight low in the chassis, there's a different but reassuring feeling that all four tyres are sharing the cornering load.

Aim for a gap in the traffic and you’re almost teleported there. Instantly. But most of the time you'll simply find yourself driving sedately in comfort, silence and awe.

The exterior styling is certainly eye catching, and admirers on the road abound. You can feel a century of experience in this car. The RS e-tron feels utterly advanced, while still respecting everything Audi has learned in more than 100 years of designing cars.

You can test drive the future of electric cars at your nearest Audi dealer.
